"It’s with great pride that I introduce Robert "Top" Thomas debut CD on WildRoots Records, "The Town Crier". This is a man that knows the blues! His authentic guitar playing and vocal stylings are the real deal. I know you’ll enjoy this album as much as we do." Victor Wainwright - 2012/2013 BMA Nominee

Robert 'Top' Thomas

Florida "Swamp Blues" master Robert ‘Top’ Thomas a native of New Smyrna Beach, Florida has toured and/or recorded as guitarist and vocalist with several renowned Blues artists including; "Noble ‘Thin Man’ Watts", "Lazy Lester", "Victor Wainwright", "The King Snake All-Star Revue", "Alex Taylor", "Bill Wharton", "Blue House", "Mark ‘MuddyHarp’ Hodgson", to name a few; but is best known as a founding member of King Snake recording artist "SmokeHouse".

Robert’s sound is a gumbo of Louisiana swamp and Delta roots, influenced by many of his heroes including; Lightnin’ Slim, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and Lazy Lester.

Joining Robert on this album is the WildRoots rhythm section, Stephen Dees - bass and Billy Dean - drums; and rising young harmonica master Stephen Kampa [winner of the 2012 Florida Harmonica Championship]. Special guests also include Victor Wainwright, Damon Fowler, Brandon Santini, Beth McKee, Juan Perez, Patricia Ann Dees, Mark Hodgson, and Jeffrey Willey.

WildRoots Records launched a worldwide radio campaign for "The Town Crier", on February 19th 2013 with Frank Roszak Promotions.

Here are some excerpts from what the Blues community is saying so far.

"... the first on my best of 2013 list. This is a knock-out, kick-ass blues album by a wailing frontman with that perfect gruff blues voice and some shredding guitar solos, reminiscent of all those great old legends such as Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor, Robert Johnson"
Rockin’ Roll Call - Bill Locey

"Thomas' solo debut is an eclectic gumbo of Delta hooks, Louisiana merriment, and top-notch musicianship."
Living Blues - Mark Uricheck

"..great album without a single weak spot. Proof that real Blues is not dead."
Barn Owl Blues - Eric Campfens

"I can honestly say I’m completely pleased and impressed with this effort. Thomas has done his legacy proud..."

"
Thomas was part of a band called “Smokehouse”... He was a swamp-blues maven then and he’s a swamp-blues maven now… Hallelujah! ... Florida born-and-bred jewel of swampy Blues…featuring Florida musicians. Pretty Cool!"
Twelve Bar Rag - George Wilett

"I unconsciously left “The Town Crier” in my player until I heard it several times. The CD is impressive on the first play, and is even better with age. Robert “Top” Thomas and The Town Crier“ belongs in every blues collection."
